Sensei Bruce McGee

4th Dan

Sensei Bruce began training karate in December, 1994 when he was looking for a change from other physical activities that were not holding his interest. He obtained his shodan (1st degree black belt) in November of 1998.

His training goal is simple: to get a little bit better each time he trains.

Certifications

Sensei Bruce’s teaching philosophy centres around giving students an understanding of how techniques apply to them. During his Saturday morning family class, he encourages students to find fun and enjoyment in karate all while strengthening their minds and bodies and improving their techniques.

Sensei Bruce is a founding member of the Japanese Taiko group Do Kon Daiko that has been together for over 15 years.  He enjoys music, reading and spending time with his family and friends.

I have had MS for over 20 years. Mobility is a challenge for me but I have learned to adapt my teaching to not make this a focus. Ideally, if people see that I can do it, they will see the same in themselves.
